The next session was amazing and kept all of us spell bound… It was a life time opportunity to hear about 26/11 from the “Man Himself”.. Mr. Pratap Karguppikar, ex Fire Chief Mumbai Fire Brigade. 26/11 was one of the most painful moments in the history of modern India. But our forces bravely pulled us out of that dastardly attack. It is a scar that still hurts within. Mr Karguppikar, brought to us the actual situation, world's biggest fire rescue operation conducted during 26/11 attacks which rescued more than 500 persons trapped in Hotel Taj Mahal, Mumbai. The perspective was thrilling and gave us goose bumps all the way. We thank him for sharing it with us. GACS always picks up an area of concern & help the fraternity with relevant awareness cum knowledge . This time it was around Food Wastage. This final event of the evening was a skit performed by children from “Gyanda Education Programme” who showcased a powerful message on Food Wastage through a cleverly, crafted a street play named ‘ANn no bgaD’. This creatively reflected on the wastage of food and its impact on environment and people in India. Gyanda Education Programme – is a program managed under SHARDA Trust (Strategic Help Alliance for Relief to Distressed Areas Trust) is a public charitable trust promoted by Arvind Limited for the purpose of helping the urban poor since 1995. SHARDA Trust’s strategy for helping the urban poor comprise the elements of improving infrastructure facilities in distressed areas, providing healthcare facilities, providing educational facilities and helping the underprivileged sections of the society in upgrading their living standards. The entire team was encouraged by Abhay Sharma from GACS NCR Chapter together with Kapil Prajapati, Kaviraj Thapa, Vikram Dave & Jigna Hamlai from Gujarat Chapter.
The success of the event could be gauged by the enthusiasm and response it receives from the fraternity and barring a few most of whom happened to be travelling and had intimated their regret to the GACS organizing committee in advance, the event was attended by almost all the senior fraternity members. Finally, a big THANKS to “THE GUJARAT CORE TEAM MEMBERS” who are responsible for making this event such a HUGE success. I am sure we all know how much planning goes into making each event and how hard people have to work behind the scenes for an event of this magnitude. Taking out time from their routine jobs and meeting on weekdays & weekends to ensure every minute details are taken care of is surely commendable.
